Salvation and Victory (Psalm 20:9 & Psalm 21)

"O Lord, save the king! Give victory to the king. Answer us when we call" (Psalm 20:9)."
Let us pray for one another. Let us pray for salvation and victory.
 * Psalm 20:1-5 - Prayer for God's blessing
 * Psalm 20:6-9 - Assurance that God will answer
First, there is the prayer. Then, there is the assurance of God's answer.
There can be no answer to prayer if there is no prayer.
There can be no blessing if there is no prayer for blessing.
Let us learn to be faithful in prayer so that we can be fruitful in blessing.
What kind of Church will we be? Will we be a  praying Church, a Church that is being blessed by the Lord or a Church that doesn't pray and isn't being blessed by the Lord?
Salvation and victory - The blessings are there for us. Salvation and victory - "Ask, and it shall be given to you" (Matthew 7:7).

 * Thanksgiving for past victories (Psalm 21:1-7)
 * Assurance of future victories (Psalm 21:8-13)
Where does victory come from? - It comes from the Lord who has saved us.
"By grace you have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8). The work of God in us does not end with a past salvation, a memory of what the Lord has done for us in the past. His work in us goes on from there - "By grace you have been saved through faith ... for good works ... " (Ephesians 2:8-10).
 * Let us look back, giving thanks to God for our salvation.
 * Let us press on, trusting in God to lead us in the pathway of victory.

Let us give thanks - with joy ...

“At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem”, the keynote of the service was joyful thanksgiving. They gathered together “to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving” (Nehemiah 12:27). “On that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy” (Nehemiah 12:43). They sang “songs of praise and thanksgiving to God” (Nehemiah 12:46). This joyful thanksgiving is only a foretaste of the greater joy and thanksgiving of heaven: “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). In the city of God, “the glory of God” will be shining with everlasting brightness (Revelation 21:23). The Church of God will be “prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband” (Revelation 21:2). The beautiful picture of the godly wife in Proverbs 31 gives us an outline of what God is seeking to do in His people. It is summarized in Proverbs 31:30: “A woman who fears the Lord is to be ...

If We Are To Be True Followers Of Jesus ...

"Be careful! Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!" (Matthew 17:6),. even after there us divine revelation (Matthew 16:17), the influence of evil can be felt (Matthew 16:23), The warning - "Be careful! Watch out ... !" must never be forgotten. Satan is looking for an opportunity to leads us away from the Lord. We must hear what Jesus is saying to us about discipleship (Matthew 16:24), and we must commit  ourselves to Him (Matthew 16:25). There is nothing more important than this (Matthew 16:26). If we are to be true followers of Jesus, we must learn to live our lives in the light of eternity (Matthew 16:27). We are to seek revelations of God's eternal Kingdom, revelations which will send us back, from the mountain-top, to live each day for Jesus.

There's bad news - and there's Good News!

In Ezekiel 8, we have a description of sin - “very disgusting things”, even more disgusting things” (Ezekiel 8:6,9,13,17). When we read such “bad news”, we wonder, “Is there good news?” The answer of God’s Word is “Yes”! God does not leave us in our sin. He sends His Son to be our Saviour. This is the Good News, for which the prophets paved the way. Their ministry exposed sin, so that sinners might see their need of the Saviour.
