Following the list
of those who returned to the city of Jerusalem from exile (Nehemiah 7),
we see the people of God, hearing the Word of God, read and explained to
them (Nehemiah 8:7-8). The preaching of God’s Word took the place
within the context of thanksgiving and worship (Nehemiah 8:6). The
ministry of the Word of God was grounded in the study of the Word of God
(Nehemiah 8:13).
